It’s never too early to be on the lookout for the upcoming fashion trends.
Those of us that have vacation or summer plans already want to start planning their outfits ahead of time, you’ve came to the right place!
Here are 4 trends we’ll see this upcoming summer:
1. Denim on denim
The first trend we’ll be seeing allover this summer, is the denim-on-denim look. Versatile and easy; we’ve seen this trend different times throughout the years, and for this 2023 season, they’re back!
You can choose to buy a matching denim set in the same color/wash, or you can mix and match with different washes, brands, and textures. Get creative!
Play with different styles, such as denim skirts, dresses and shorts; denim jackets, corset tops, button-ups, you name it. The options are endless, and I’m sure you have something laying in your closet to realise this look.
2. Silver/Metallic clothing
This outfit, worn by Christine Chiu from Bling Empire, is another major trend we will see this summer season.
Silver/metallic clothing is already seen all over Instagram and catwalks, but I predict it will be seen more and more in streetwear as well.
This futuristic look, inspired by Paco Rabanne’s designs in the 70s, is now making its return. Could this have something to do with the emergence of digital fashion, the MetaVerse, etc?
We see corset tops in this silver metallic color, cargo pants, etc. Sunglasses are a very important accessory to compliment this look, as well as bags, such as the hyped-up Diesel 1DR bag.
3. Utility clothing
Utility clothing is basically clothing inspired by work attire; it’s oversized and contains a lot of pockets.
The clothing is meant to be practical for construction workers for example, but has made its entrance on the runway.
This summer, we’ll see a lot of cargo pants with multiple pockets, utility jackets, etc.
4. Slip dresses
We saw multiple slip dresses on the SS23 runway. Not your ordinary silk slip dress though; this season they will be accentuated with lace trims, strappy, cut-out, etc.
