I moved to the Netherlands almost a year ago, which means I’m about to experience my very first Kingsday on April 27th.
Excited as I am, on this special day celebrating the birthday of King Willem-Alexander, everyone wears orange, since orange is the national colour of the Netherlands. This means: an opportunity to get creative and stand out in your unique orange outfit!
Here are some ideas to be the best dressed party guest this Kingsday:
- Orange blazer
That the blazer is a fashion staple, is no news.
Dress up Kingsday-style by wearing an orange blazer if you want to look classy and chic this Kingsday. Perfect for those who have more sophisticated plans on Kingsday or Kingsnight.
Style it with your favourite jeans or leather pants and a cute top. This also looks great over a bodycon dress with tights and boots or even heels if that’s what you’re down for.
You can buy an orange blazer at Zara, H&M or Asos.
2. Orange tracksuit
If you’re one of the cool Amsterdam or Rotterdam streetwear girls, an orange tracksuit is your way to go this Kingsday.
Not only will you be comfortable, you’ll give off an urban and fashionable vibe.
3. Colour blocking
Pink is a trending colour this spring season, and it pairs beautifully with orange. Perfect opportunity to go colour blocking this Kingsday!
This look is perfect if you want to stand out a bit more in a very feminine way on Kingsday, and show off how fashionable and colourful your life is.
I love how feminine and bright this look is.
4. Accessories
Lastly, if you’re unable to find a full orange outfit, or you simply don’t want to go all out, you can still spice up your outfit and look festive by adding orange accessories.
Accessories truly make an outfit, so if you have purchased any of the outfits above, I still recommend adding at least one orange accessory to make your outfit look more elevated.
